How to get a Claude API key

With a dedicated graphics card, AIBEVA runs a built-in model on your PC and needs no key. On a less powerful PC, it runs with your own Claude API key from Anthropic. Getting one takes a few minutes.

Before you start

  • A chat subscription is not enough. Claude Pro, ChatGPT Plus or Google AI Pro do not include an API key. An API key is a separate thing that you create in Anthropic’s developer console.
  • Other providers’ keys are not supported in this version. Use a Claude API key.
  • Anthropic bills the usage to your account. AIBEVA charges nothing extra for this.
  • With your own key, your messages go to Anthropic. Your messages, and the parts of your memory needed to answer, are sent to Anthropic under its terms, so that mode is not offline. Your memory itself is kept on your PC.
  • Treat the key like a password. Create a separate key just for AIBEVA, set a spending limit in the console if you want one, and revoke the key there if you think it has leaked. Do not paste it into e-mails or chats.

Anthropic (Claude) in five steps

  1. Sign in. Go to console.anthropic.com (the Claude Console) and sign in, or create an account. This is the developer site, not claude.ai.
  2. Add credit. Open Settings → Billing and add a small prepaid amount.
  3. Create the key. Open Settings → API keys and click Create Key. Name it “AIBEVA”.
  4. Copy it now. The key starts with sk-ant- and is shown only once.
  5. Paste it into AIBEVA when it asks.

If it does not work

  • Anthropic refuses the key: check that you copied the whole key, that the account has credit and that the key was not revoked in the console.
  • In the app, Settings → Help has the most common fixes.
  • Still stuck? Write to support@aiblab.info. Never send us the key itself.

Anthropic’s pages change from time to time. If a button is named differently, look for “API keys” in the console settings.
